New sections of the Electric Power in 2019 Lumisa 08/02/2019 Energy Power 0 The key to a maximum saving in your bill of light is to choose properly the contracted power of your point of supply. It is very important to hire the right electric power, because if it is higher we will be paying more in each of the bills. On the contrary, if it is lower than the needed one, the leads will be skipped regularly. But, what is the contracted power? The contracted power is the maximum number of kilowatts (kW) that we can connect in our home or premises at the same time to the electricity grid. The user will see it reflected in their invoices, and it is a concept that must always be paid regardless of the consumption made. Following the Resolution of September 8, 2006 of the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines, which established the table of standard powers for all supplies in low voltage thus assuming an increase in electricity bills, stipulated the following table of normalized powers: Update of electric power Until October 2018, only a standardized power regulated in the previous table could be contracted. However, on October 6, 2018, Royal Decree-Law 15/2018 of urgent measures for energy transition and consumer protection was approved, through which it modifies Article 5.4, which is drafted in the following terms: «1. The consumer or his agent, in accordance with the scope of application of the access tariffs established in article 1, paragraph 1, of this Royal Decree, may choose the tariff and modality that he deems most convenient for his interests between those officially authorized for the use of the networks for the supply of energy that they wish to demand, provided that they comply with the conditions established in this Royal Decree. Likewise, the consumer may choose the power to be contracted, having to adjust, as the case may be, to the steps corresponding to the normalized intensity levels for the control devices. However, the above, the consumer may contract the power in multiples of 0.1 kW provided that the contracted power does not exceed 15 kW and have a counter that allows time discrimination and telemanagement. ». Therefore, the power will be allowed to be contracted in 0.1 kW sections, with the elimination of the normalized power sections that limited the hiring to these values provided that it does not exceed the maximum admissible power shown in the Electricity Bulletin. This is a measure introduced by the Ministry in order to better adjust the power of the consumer to what you really need, thus avoiding overpaying the electricity bill.
